It is expected that Honda will launch an updated version of the road biased adventure bike Varadero this autumn. To get closer to the all conquering BMW R1200GS it is believed the new Varadero will get a more sporty edge with a stronger engine. Expect the engine to increase performance from today’s 93bhp to closer to the 100bhp mark. The Varadero is thought to still feature a slightly detuned VTR 1000F engine that easily conforms to Euro 3. Rather than just being a big heavy tourer with offroad design we believe Honda has lightened the chassis, used new wheels more adaptable to varying tarmac and better suspension with more wheel travel. Whilst at it we believe Honda has redesigned the whole bike for a more sleek less massive appearance to make it more agile off the beaten track. It is up for speculation whether Honda will actually follow BMW and KTM in offering one standard, ABS’d road biased model and one more sporty version more suited to gravel and obstacles in the road. I any case it was high time Honda did something to the ageing Varadero. Do you want a new Varadero?

Ich hoffe die Gerüchte stimmen, weil die jetzige Varadero ist zu schwer, zu schwach und hat zuwenig Zuladung. Nur ist Honda ja offensichtlich an den „Big-Enduro-Kunden“ nicht interessiert, sondern verkauft lieber 125-er in Asien. Die KTM Adventure 990 gewinnt da schön langsam enorm an Reiz.

For a long period the fan community of Varadero drivers urge for a new model, bringing them closer to the roots of Enduro-driving. Up to now the Varadero was compareable to the moder SUV fashion conquering the car sector during the last years. KTM and BMW surpassed the basic thoughts of the Varadero, although the concept is good: Long-distance ability concerning comfort and fuel, well breathing motor with sufficient power (okay, one can always look for more power/displacement, as I would welcome, too :-)) ), standard luggage solution and finally a facelift with injection, catalysators, 6-gear-box and optional anti-lock system. Okay, BUT the capability to perform a brief offroad trip, without being called Depres or Coma, was a little bit limited. Well, passing on gravel roads is no problem, but with alloy rims you have your first big problem when kissing a rock at higher speeds.
Principally I would like to have a closer look on an evolution of the Varadero, because I want to have a motorcycle carrying me to Spain, passing a pleasant trip there, having the real choice between on and offroad and bringing me back safely - without three pit stops for changing oil or even worse a breakdown.
KTM is able to offer such euqipment, BUT it lacks from durability, thats the only problem.
Now, if this information is really no rumour and will turn to reality, it would be great:
My prefered attributes:
- displacement 1100-1200 ccm
- simple technical base, i.e. no catalysator, anti-lock disableable, capable to drive with low-quality fuel
- fuel range about 400 km or higher
- 6 Gear box
- max. weight with all liquids around 200 kg
- complete motor protection

sowohl Honda als auch Suzuki werden eine 1100er herausbringen und abspecken müssen. Auch Triumph wird 2007 etwas neues herausbringen, Aprilia und Guzzi ebenfalls und ich denke Yamaha wird sich auch was überlegen. Freu mich auf 2007!

noch immer nix über eine neue TDM gefunden.
Vielleicht nimmst du die neue Fazer 1000 und machst Endurohammerln drauf. Tät sicher auch gut ausschauen.

Die neue Tiger ist fast fertig, mit Up Side down Gabel und einem Outfit in Richtung Multistrada. Aprilia wird die Caponord völlig neu aufstellen und mehr in die geländetaugliche Richtung orientieren, vielleicht sogar auch wie bei den kleinen SXV u. RXV eine SuMo Variante bringen. (passt besser zum neuen Konzept) Und Moto Guzzi bringt vielleicht schon 2007 eine neue „Quota“ auf Basis der Breva 1100, aber gleich mit dem 1200er Motor aus der Norge. Allerdings nicht als Sportmodell sondern mit dem Reisekonzept wie es derzeit die Caponord abdeckt. Das macht auch Sinn so. Aprilia als die Sportabteilung und Guzzi bedient die Reisefraktion mit dem urigen Motor einfach Emotionaler.
Also freuen wir uns auf die Neuheitenflut der nächsten Jahre. Da wird dann sicher für jeden etwas dabei sein. Somit kann die ewige Einheitskost für die BMW verantwortlich ist, endlich etwas aufgelockert werden.

nicht mehr TDM heissen!yamaha hat marktanteile verloren und glaubt dass irgendein BMW oder KTM klon die in den sand gesetzten prozente zurückerobern hilft.

Hauptsache 'ne 1000er. Mal sehen, vom Design her wird sie sicher wieder toll werden!
Auf den Tiger freue ich mich schon. Er war schon immer mein Traum.
Leider konnte ich ihn zur richtigen Zeit nicht kaufen und mittlerweile schaut er schon ein wenig alt aus.
Meine Hoffnungen richten sich also auf 2007!
Das wird eine harte Entscheidung zwischen KTM und der Raubkatze.
Und dann ist da ja auch noch meine Fazer…

In Deutschland bekommst die 450er um 8.698,- und die 550er um 8.998,-…
sind längst bekannt und beinhalten den berühmten Österreichzuschlag: Also, RXV 450 9.695,- und RXV 550 10.198,-
Lieferbar sollten sie ebenso auch schon sein, bzw. wenn der Schnee endlich weg ist kann angegast werden.

Aber du als Italophiler Motorradfan kannst sicher sagen, ob dass Teil offen zulassungsfähig ist…mit den 13KW, wie in Deutschland, is komplett uninteressant…
mit der vollen Leistung nicht zulassungsfähig! Die 13 Kw sind „Klassenüblich“ im Sportmotorradbereich. Niemand schafft eine Zulassung bei voller Leistung.
Deshalb fahren ja auch 100% aller KTM und Husquarna illegal durch Österreich.

Die 450er GasGas und die 450er Sherco sind ja auch mit voller Leistung zulassungsfähig… als einzige Sportenduros übrigens…
